Earlier this month, Imagine Dragons performed The Beatles' classic "Revolution" during a televised 50th anniversary celebration of the Ed Sullivan performances that launched the Liverpudlian band to mega stardom in America. Watch the video above.
LL Cool J introduces the performance with some background on The Beatles' versions of the song, then hands it over to Imagine Dragons. This performance is acoustic, featuring a stripped down sound that's pretty different from any of those Beatles versions of the song. Bassist Ben McKee starts things off with that signature lick, and the band is instantly grooving. Lead singer Dan Reynolds handles the John Lennon parts masterfully and the rest of the band provides strong backing vocals. Guitarist Wayne "Wing" Sermon does a really nice job handling the guitar duties, giving an old school rock and roll vibe to the uptempo late '60s hard rock jam. Drummer Daniel Platzman plays tambourine with his foot, while also providing guitar accompaniment.
