Earlier this week, Metallica played brand new song "Lords Of Summer" at a concert in Bogotá. Today, they've shared the "Garage Demo Version" of the track via YouTube. Stream it above.

With the song freed from the outside noise and imperfect mix of the live version, "Lords Of Summer" sounds grittier and more focused, though Metallica's garage apparently has better acoustics than most recording studios. The second half is still dominated by guitar solos from Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield, and Hetfield's still doing that thing where he adds an extra syllable at the end of nearly every line. Lars Ulrich's drumming is (most likely) lacking digital quantization, but apart from that, this has all the makings of a classic Metallica song.

There's still no word on a new Metallica album, but head over to their Zumic artist page for more of their music, videos and news.
