On the heels of the reelase of Johnny Cash's "lost" 1983 album Out Among The Stars, La Blogothèque has brought together some of the best talent in the rock world today to shed light on the Johnny Cash legacy. Watch the excellent 16 minute YouTube video above, featuring interviews and performances from Brandon Flowers (The Killers) with Dawes, Father John Misty, and Local Natives. The music and visuals are both great, as well as the insight to what makes "The Man In Black" such a loved and revered musician years after he has been laid to rest.
Over the course of a day in the California desert, we see interviews with the artists in a pickup truck as they drive out to a remote location and perform. From there, we're treated to cover versions of different songs from Out Among The Stars with their own unique take on each song. Things progress from daytime to evening over the course of the video. All 3 performances are excellent, but the Local Natives might steal the show with their electronic indie rock interpretation of the album's title track.
