Brooklyn-via-Athens, GA songwriter Matthew Houck adds to his impressive catalog of releases under the moniker "Phosphorescent" with Muchacho, out March 19th via Dead Oceans and available as a free stream right now via Spotify.

While the band's sixth record keeps their previous work's brand of heart-on-your-beer-soaked-sleeve psychedelic-country as it's core, Houck continues to find interesting ways to add to his sound. Here on Muchacho, he explores the electronic realm with synth sounds on a couple of tracks. The result is another beautifully broken, foot stomping lament on love, loss and acceptance that few other bands of this type are able to muster.

Last week, this message was posted at phosphorescentmusic.com:

Just learned that even tho MUCHACHO doesn't officially come out for another 3 weeks, you can order it from the label and download an mp3 copy immediately. So! The new record IS OUT NOW. I can't wait for you to hear it. You can order from independent record store Rough Trade, Amazon, iTunes, or from your own local store. Hope you like it.
