DJ Jean Maron has released a new KRS-One track called "True School," from Maron's upcoming compilation album of the same name, out April 29th through Bring Back My Yesterday Records.

The track samples Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze." There is no hook, just one verse over a looped beat that ends with Jimi's "'Scuse me while I kiss the sky," before Maron lets the original play until it fades out. KRS spits a verse about being an old school rapper from the '80s, declaring, "Hip hop culture, I live that 'cause I built that." He even name checks Boogie Down Production's Criminal Minded, reminding you how important his contribution to hip hop actually is. Watch the video above above.

You can preorder the album on DJ Jean Maron's official website.
