Nicki Minaj seems hellbent on making 2014 the year that everyone forgets about "Starships." Dropping incendiary verses on YG's "My Nigga" remix, Tyga's "Senile," Young Thug's "Danny Glover" remix, her own "Lookin' Ass Niggas," and now "Chi-Raq," Minaj seems primed to release The Pink Print with little to no pop fanfare. Listen to "Chi-Raq," featuring Chi-town's own Lil Herb, above, and view the lyrics below.

With an eerie beat provided by Boi-1da, "Chi-Raq" has a darkness that mirrors the youth violence that plagues its namesake. 18-year-old Lil Herb serves as the track's local correspondent, providing almost obligatory gun talk and serving to make Nicki seem ever harder by association (she even uploaded some alternate artwork on Instagram featuring an M-16 and the Chicago skyline). By latching onto buzzworthy upstarts like Herbo, YG and Young Thug, Queen Nicki is already seeming like a wily elder stateswoman at age 31, albeit one that still oozes talent and sex appeal. Since her ascent to pop stardom, she's been a sore subject among hip hop heads, but The Pink Print, due out later this year, seems like it has the potential to change that.
