For record store day, Pixies released a special edition of their new album, Indie Cindy, which comes with an accompanying 7-inch record with a bonus track called "Woman Of War." Now, that song is available as a stream and free download.
Pixies seem to be developing a new sound with songs like "Snakes" and "Bag Boy," both off of Indie Cindy. However, "Women Of War" will sound familiar to any Pixies fan. It's melodic, catchy and it has a killer distorted guitar riff courtesy of guitarist Joey Santiago. It has the the mid tempo rock feel to such other classic Pixies cuts as "Velouria" and "Wave of Mutilation." The chorus has Black Francis singing "be my soldier lover and I'll be your peaceful dove." It makes you wonder why this is only a bonus track and not the album's lead single. In fact, this track won't even make it to the album's deluxe version, but you can snag it for free above.
Indie Cindy will be available April 28th through the band's own label, Pixies Music. You can preorder the album on iTunes. Until then, you can stream the full album here on Zumic.
