Multi-instrumentalist Ben Harper and his mother, Ellen Harper, have teamed up to create an album titled Childhood Home that is scheduled for a May 6th release. The ten song recording features four songs written by Ellen and six written by Ben. You can stream the album above via SoundCloud.

Childhood Home may be Ben's most personal work yet. This is a mellow album full of personal lyrics that draws the image of sitting around a campfire or relaxing in a park. Songs like "Memories Of Gold" and "A House Is A Home" showcase the two weaving their voices together beautifully. Subjects relating to home life, childhood, and lost love are the emphasis of most of the songs. The ballad "Farmers Daughter" highlights Ben's banjo playing, while "Alter Of Love" features Ellen's soft storytelling voice. In a description of the album, Ben told Rolling Stone:

Not one thing is plugged in. It's all acoustic. I think they're going to call it ‘Americana,' but it's soul, California, folk rock, American. My mom and I making a record together is something we have talked about doing for a very long time. I guess you could say a lifetime.

Childhood Home is available for pre-order through iTunes and Amazon. Ben is currently on a European tour and will be returning to the U.S. in June. For further tour information, check out his official website.
