Lana Del Rey's "West Coast" music video is a slightly bizarre, very dramatic trip through time and space. Watch the official music video above, via the singer's official YouTube account.

The New York based singer-songwriter plays off two very different themes, going back and forth between a young lover on the beach and an old lover in a car. The smokey video is mostly in black and white, giving a noir feel that matches her music well. By the end, there are flames and more color, matching a funky keyboard line that could have been taken from Parliament or some of Dr. Dre's earlier work. There's a real old school meets new school vibe here, continuing the musical persona that Lana Del Rey has crafted for herself.

The song was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, who recently spoke about working with Lana to Mojo magazine (via NME):

We were only scheduled to do three days, and then she stretched it out to two weeks and we finished a whole record. She's the real deal... She impressed me every day. There were moments when she was fighting me. I could sense that maybe she didn't want to have anybody think she wasn't in control because I'm sure it's really hard to be a woman in the music business. So we bumped heads a little bit, but at the end of the day we were dancing to the songs.

The album, Ultraviolence, is due out in June of 2014. For Lana Del Rey's latest music, news, and tour dates, check out her Zumic artist page.
