"The Blue M&M" - PeeWee Longway [Official Full Mixtape Stream + Free Download]

Atlanta's PeeWee Longway is someone who, despite having released his debut mixtape last year, is still best known for his guest spots on songs by Gucci Mane, Migos and Young Thug. But now, riding on the strength of a recent A$AP Rocky co-sign, Longway has returned with The Blue M&M, a mixtape that feels like his coming out party thanks to the inclusion of nearly every relevant ATLien on its tracklist. With guest spots from Young Thug, A$AP Rocky and Migos, it seems like PeeWee's having some favors returned on The Blue M&M. Production comes from several members of the revolving-door-cast of producers who have defined Atlanta hip hop in the past few years, including Honorable C-Note, Zaytoven, C4, Metro Boomin and Dun Deal.

Compared with other current ATL rappers, who all seem to be able to categorized in some way (Migos: the earnest, fashion-and-triplet masters, Young Thug: the unhinged weirdo, Gucci Mane: the stoic-but-funny ringleader), the jury's still out on PeeWee's true identity. He can definitely hang with longtime pal Young Thug in the high-pitched-delivery game -- just listen to his goofy verse on Gucci's "Off The Leash" -- but he's less of a wild card, usually opting for more reserved styles of rapping. He's not 100% in line with Gucci's subdued rapping or Migos' locked-in flows, so where does PeeWee land amid the veritable spectrum of ATL rappers?

As it turns out, his strength on The Blue M&M is his versatility. He's grown up among all these rappers with signature sounds and styles, and that shows in his ability to mimic nearly all of them. He can do ad-lib-heavy shout-rap ("Sneakin N Geekin"), skillful speed-rap ("Servin Lean" remix") and even Gucci-style mumble-rap ("That Boy Right There"). The only problematic part about this is that it's still somewhat difficult to pick Longway out from a crowd, but his skills and chameleonesque delivery have the potential to change that in the future.
