Country music bad-ass Billy Joe Shaver has teamed up with Willie Nelson to record "Hard to Be an Outlaw." The song is the first track from Billy Joe Shaver's album Long In The Tooth that will be released August 5th. This is Shaver's first new album since 2008's Everybody's Brother. You can listen to the song above.

The steady rolling song is driven with echoing lap steel guitar playing as the country legends trade verses back and forth and join together during the chorus. Lyrically, the song takes a stab at superstars bragging about back roads they've never been down. Regarding the state of today's country music, Shaver told Rolling Stone "It's not harsh enough, I don't guess." Billy and Willie both agree that it's "enough to make a renegade want to terrorize the town," as lyrics in the song suggest.

Long In The Tooth will feature guest appearances from Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, Tony Joe White and Shawn Camp on selected songs. In a press release, Shaver said that this album, "Is the best album I've ever done. It's just dangerously good. I expect it to change things and turn things around the way Honky Tonk Heroes did."

Willie's version of this song will also be on his upcoming album Band of Brothers, which will be released June 17th and is available for pre-order on iTunes.

Billy Joe Shaver is currently on a nation wide tour and you can find what cities he'll be in on his official website.
