Boston-based musician Jeff Meff recently changed his moniker from Fat History Month to Bad History Month. His first release under the new name will be Famous Cigarettes, a split with Bloomington band Dust From 1000 Years. He's shared the wonderfully titled "The Imaginary Sound Of My Own Voice Talking Shit," the second single off the LP, and you can listen to it above.

Jeff Meff's vocals, monotone yet soothing, are reminiscent of Bill Callahan and the first minute of the track is subtle and intimate, with just a voice and a guitar. The track takes a turn to the experimental midway through, noise bursts through and dissonant tones echo in the background. It's a jarring experience, but it makes for a fascinating listen. The song builds up a false sense of security before everything breaks down at the end.

Listen to the first single off the LP, "Staring at My Hands" right here on Zumic. The album is available for pre-order on Bad History Month's Bandcamp.
