On May 1st, 2014, Zoe Muth performed a four song set on KEXP. During the set, the Seattle singer-songwriter showed off a few tunes from her record, World of Strangers, which was released on May 27th, 2014.
Zoe Muth's voice weaves beautiful stories of lost loves and contemplations in way that's easy to take in. In the third song of the set, "Somebody I Know," Muth sings "I’ve been living in my mind too long / Making small talk so my lonely heart don’t show." In two lines she conveys something so gracefully which many struggle to put together for years. Her lyrics ring with wisdom over the gentle strumming of her acoustic guitar throughout her KEXP session.
Her performance is straightforward with no gimmicks or exaggerated personalities. Her show is just like her music, honest and simple, but that's why it is so great. Her musings on the puzzle pieces of life never falling into the predictable country structure, but her twangy voice giving her music a familiar, homey feel.
