The Gaslight Anthem's Get Hurt releases worldwide on August 12th, and today we have the album's opening track, "Stay Vicious." It's the latest single so far from Get Hurt, and it demands a listen.
The song opens with raging guitars that set the stage for lead singer Brian Fallon, his voice rugged and commanding. Then, as the song enters its chorus, you'll notice a distinct change in style. Aggression falls away in the texture and in Fallon's voice, and we feel the raucous scene zoom in, soft and introspective. It's a skillful, beautiful move from the New Jersey rockers, adding up to a song that should satisfy both fist-clenched and chin-stroking music lovers.
"Stay Vicious" follows up on two other singles released from Get Hurt, "Rollin’ and Tumblin’" and the album's title track.
