Last week, Sam Smith released a remix of his 2017 single, "Pray" featuring Grammy-nominated rapper Logic.  Listen above, on YouTube.

On the day of the release, Logic tweeted, "This is the most important feature I've ever done. Writing from the perspective of someone who feels unwanted and unaccepted, I'm here to tell you there are others like you! You're loved and you CAN be yourself. Thank you @samsmithworld for giving me the platform." The rapper passionately confronts any haters in the remix, preaching, "I know I ain't perfect, but you should respect me."

The original song, which Smith told Billboard was inspired by a trip to Iraq, depicts a plea for hope in a moment of desperation. Accompanied by a haunting instrumental and moving gospel choir, Smith leads the plea to a climax, repeating the line, "Everyone prays in the end." In a song that already pulls at the heartstrings, Logic interjects powerful, sermon-like rhymes between Smith's soulful refrains. In a hopeful answer to the forlorn prayer, Logic delivers a rallying cry — "Heaven want to cast me out for being me, I know there's others like me that'll break the fall," reassuring listeners that there is a place of belonging for all those who feel alone.
