PJ Harvey has covered Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand" for the BBC series Peaky Blinders. Listen to the audio stream above.
The English singer-songwriter walks on familiar ground with this cover, as she has previously collaborated with Nick Cave for the song "Henry Lee" and briefly dated him. With a slow piano and pensive vocals, Harvey puts an eerie spin on Cave's 1994 single. What's also notable about this version is her change of the lyrics, which are now a stretched-out version of the original's first verse. Overall, Harvey's take captures the suspenseful nature of song's main figure, the man with the red right hand.
Peaky Blinders is a BBC historic crime drama starring Cillian Murphy as a gangster in post-World War I England. As of now, the show is in its second season in the UK. The first season is available in the US exclusively on Netflix.
