The So So Glos have just released the official video for "Speakeasy," a track from last year's Blowout.
In the video, frontman Alex Levine fights back against a horde of technology-obsessed young people. Dungeons, classrooms, and kitchen tables set the scene as a police officer tries to battle the oncoming digital takeover. The screen-addled zombies are a target for the song's lyrics as well, although there is a touch of irony in releasing an anti-technology video on the internet.
Levine told Alt Press about the clip:
"In this episode I play the character of a cyber cop whose aim is to shake apathetic youth out of their zombie-like, Internet-induced daze. The video represents a battle between the artificial and the organic. In the end, what the cop once championed as a clear and noble mission, becomes lost in a virtual reality."
Blowout is available now through Amazon. The So So Glos will be supporting Say Anything on tour this summer. For full dates, check out their official website.
