Bob Weir Falls Down During Furthur's "Unbroken Chain" [Video]

Bob Weir, the legendary vocalist and guitar player of The Grateful Dead had a scary moment last night as Furthur concluded their run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.

During "Unbroken Chain", Weir can be seen struggling and then eventually falling to the stage floor from about :51 to :58 during this video from someone in the crowd:

The video is quite shocking. We are hoping that this is just a small problem and not a serious health issue for Bobby. It is understandable that the band would finish the song (although perhaps they could have cut it short instead of going on for over 10 minutes after Weir fell down). The crowd is particularly rowdy, hooting and hollering as the band winds through a dissonant and grooveless version of the Lesh favorite.

Eventually, Bob Weir was helped up and was able to finish the song from a chair that was set up for him after he fell. Jambase reports:

After Furthur had completed Unbroken Chain, the band briefly left the stage and returned a few minutes later without Weir. Bassist Phil Lesh told the crowd that Weir had suffered a strained shoulder earlier in the day and the band would be finishing the second set without him.
