It was a BEAUTIFUL day on Saturday and what better way was there to spend it than at being at the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair in Williamsburg?

By the time I arrived at 11:15am (when doors opened), there was already a good 100 people or so sifting through the crates of vinyl and talking with the vendors. Labels such as ATO Records, Merge, DFA, Beyond Beyond Is Beyond and local area music stores like Halcyon The Shop, Kim's Video & Music, and Other Music were on hand to offer customers free buttons, stickers, posters, shirts, and vinyl/cassette releases of the artists they represent.

For shoppers listening pleasure there was also a schedule of DJ's scheduled to appear throughout the day. The event was streamed live on Red Bull Music Academy's website and was part of their month long calendar of events happening throughout areas in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Hardcore vinyl lovers were out in full force in hopes of scoring a nice piece to add to their collections. Many vendors offered signed, rare, and out-of-print albums for sale. Many tables were crowded to the point where I had to squeeze in to get a look at what was on the table. In the hour that I spent there, I saw MANY happy faces on LP collectors faces and many vendors happily conversing with their customers. To those people who still believe vinyl is dead, I say they need to get out of the big name stores like Target and into a neighborhood record shop.
