Questlove's upcoming memoir Mo' Meta Blues is being released on June 18. The book, which he co-authored with Ben Greenman, will be a memoir, but will also touch on topics such as the state of hip-hop, his opinions on music and other artists, and stories of his interactions with people like Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z.

The latest news about the book however, centers around the footnoted commentary throughout the book, which was contributed by Roots manager Richard Nichols. According to HipHopDX, Nicols wrote some scathing remarks about 2 Chainz's album Based on a T.R.U. Story:

"It's a fucking object lesson in thematic narrowness, one dumbass idea repeated over and over again...There's a song called 'Crack' and then a song called 'Dope Peddler,' right next to each other. Then a little later there's a song called 'I Luv Dem Strippers.' I'm not knocking 2 Chainz, but what kind of market elevates him like that, at the expense of everything else?"

One of the reasons Nichols pushed for Questlove to write the book was to present another perspective of hip-hop, saying:

"Stories that revolve around Black people, the shit has to be this weird sort of outlawish type of existence for people to get into it...For some reason, there's this idea, post-Hip Hop, that Black peoples lives are always on the edge."

You can get Mo' Meta Blues on Amazon when it's released on June 18.
