On September 14th, an "extremely rare" 1986 demo cassette from Radiohead (then still known as On A Friday) will be auctioned off in Stockport at Omega Auctions. According to auctioneer Paul Fairweather, the price of this archival recording will most likely "exceed £1,000." ($1525.30 US dollars.)
Fairweather tells NME that the demo came "directly from an old friend of the band who was at school with them at Abingdon School. We have copies of his school yearbook from 85/86 showing him and all four members of the band."
The demo cassette contains nine tracks, six of which have never been included in any of Radiohead's official releases - "Fragile Friend," "Girl (In The Purple Dress)," "Everybody Knows," "Mountains (On The Move)," "Lemming Trail" and "Lock The Door." (Although some have been made available through the internet.) The rest of the cassette features remixes of "Lock The Door," "Lemming The Trail," and "Fragile Friend."
Also to be included in the auction are Pete Doherty's (The Libertines; Babyshambles) hand-written lyrics and diary pages from the making of "Up The Bracket," as well as one of his original paintings.
