Last week, the Philippines was devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan, leaving thousands dead and missing, and even more homeless. In an effort to assist the country's disaster relief, David Byrne will be holding a one-off stage performance of his and Fatboy Slim's collaborative 2011 concept album about former Philippines First Lady Imelda Marcos, with all proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders. The event will take place at NYC's Terminal 5 on Monday, November 25th.
Here Lies Love (Byrne and Fatboy Slim's album) had previously been performed as a musical at New York's Public Theater earlier this year, and the original cast of that production will return for the upcoming benefit show. In a recent press release, Byrne said:
“The show is about the resiliency of the Philippine people — it couldn’t be more timely. Upon hearing about this tragedy the cast contacted me about doing a show to raise money for relief efforts. Most of our cast is Filipino, and all of us feel the same way. It’s personal for all of us."
