On yesterday's This Is Radio Clash, aired on the BBC, David Bowie made a surprise appearance with a pre-recorded clip wishing his British kinfolk happy holidays as Elvis. Thank you very much.

“Hello everybody, this is David Bowie making a telephone call from the US of A. At this time of the year I can’t help but remember my British-ness and all the jolly British folk, so here’s to you and have yourselves a Merry little Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you very much.”

Check out the full 2 hour program, which begins with a rare early David Bowie cut called "The Laughing Gnome," in addition to a great eclectic mix of rock music including classic British acts like The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, and The Hollies paired with classic American soul groups like Booker T. & The MG's, Shuggie Otis, The Meters, and even some blues, jazz, singer-songwriter, folk, country, and hip-hop mixed in. It's only available for 7 days after it first aired, which was yesterday.

The BBC describes the first ever This Is Radio Clash show:

Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon from The Clash will be treating 6Music listeners to two hours of their favourite tunes and some Rock N' Roll tales for their first ever radio show: This is Radio Clash. Former manager Bernie Rhodes will also be making some special disguised appearances.

I am a big fan of radio, and I used to listen to Jonesy's Jukebox in Los Angeles on Indie 103.1 while I lived there and it was still on the air. Great radio. Stevie Jones was of course, the founding lead guitarist of The Sex Pistols. Paul Simonon and Topper Headon were the bassist and drummer, respectively, of The Clash. These are music legends right here DJ'ing and chatting about music for 2 hours.
