Music is one of the most powerful platforms in bringing people together, and what better way to be a part of a movement than at the Global Citizen Festival. Put it in your calendars now: the Great Lawn in Central Park on Saturday, September 27.

Being its third iteration, organizers from The Global Poverty Project have booked Jay Z and No Doubt to headline the big event in the hope of bringing the issue of worldwide poverty to the forefront. The annual one-day concert features other big acts like Carrie Underwood, fun., The Roots, and Tiesto. It's quite a mixed bag of performers this year, but the free-ticketed event will cater to a wide range of music lovers.

The Global Poverty Project's mission is to raise awareness and end extreme poverty by 2030 by helping the world's children and young people survive and thrive. The festival coincides with the UN General Assembly and will serve as a platform to call for commitments from world leaders in the areas of vaccines, education, and sanitation.

48,000 tickets are expected to be given out for free, but it comes at a 'cost': You have to earn your admission. If you head to the Global Citizen website you will see that applicants can take action by signing petitions and emailing world leaders. You can however, purchase a limited number of VIP tickets through Ticketmaster. The festival is expected to bring 60,000 fans to the Great Lawn, though anyone can stream it via MSNBC and NBC News.

Last year's Global Citizen Festival included performances from Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Kings of Leon, and John Mayer, and in its premiere year had the Foo Fighters, Black Keys, and John Legend take to the stage. This is such an incredible way to be united and fight for a cause. Stay tuned to Zumic come September to get the full wrap on the concert.
