Estereo Picnic, one of the biggest music festivals in Latin America, is bringing the most sought-after alternative music acts back to the one-of-a-kind cosmopolitan city of Bogotá, Colombia.

The three day festival which began in 2010 will have to live up to the success it had last year which featured prominent acts such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, Empire of the Sun, and Tiesto, among many others. The inaugural show in 2010 featured seven different acts, whereas over 50 acts have signed on to perform in 2015, showing the tremendous amount of growth the festival has seen in only five years!

This year on March 12 - 14, the festival will bring artists Jack White, Calvin Harris, Foster the People, Kasabian, Damian Marley, Alt-J, The Kooks, and many more to the Capital city of Colombia. Kings of Leon, who are set to release a new album before the festival, will be making their first appearance ever in Colombia. “Each year the event succeeds in gathering a line-up which surpasses the expectations of loyal fans and alternative music lovers,” comments Gabriel García, COO of Estereo Picnic.

Tickets for Estereo Picnic, which is set to take place outdoors surrounded by an exotic mountainous landscape, have already gone on sale and the event is set to attract crowds from all over the world. Last year, most international ticket purchases came from the neighboring countries of Ecuador (20.5%) and Venezuela (17%). However, tickets purchased from the distant UK accounted for 15.9% of all international purchases, with the US responsible for 7%. Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, France, Spain, and Australia also made up a significant portion of international ticket sales.

One of the collaborators for international ticket sales, Ticketbis, which has a presence in more than 30 global countries, ensures that tickets can be bought safely from outside of Colombia. "Companies like Ticketbis currently represent a solution to selling tickets abroad, as leading platforms in the ticketing sector in both Latin America and in Europe," says García.

The event organizers confirm that last year more than 2,000 fans attending the event were foreigners, and this number is expected to increase significantly for the 2015 event. Moreover, as one of the most important music events around the world, Estereo Picnic represents a new trend for tourism in Colombia, and could lead to more music festivals in Latin America in the future.
