Eric Krasno & Friends Celebrated 'Blood From A Stone' Album Release and Brooklyn Bowl's 7th Anniversary [Zumic Concert Review + Photos]

Last night, Soulive and Lettuce founding member Eric Krasno celebrated the release of his new solo album, Blood From A Stone, with a fiery performance at the always welcoming Brooklyn Bowl in New York City. It was also the venue's 7th anniversary, thus making it an extra special occasion.

The setlist was heavy with songs from the new LP, and if you've already listened to the album, it was a real treat to hear Krasno bring the songs to life. Blood From A Stone highlights Eric’s wide range of influences and his many styles of guitar playing. With a full band behind him, the songs were allowed to stretch out and take on a musical journey of their own.

Eric Krasno's band, consisting of Danny Mayer (rhythm guitar), Alex Chakour (bass), Eric Kalb (drums), DeShawn Alexander (keyboard), and Mary Corso (backing vocals), sounded like seasoned professionals playing together.

One of the things that makes Blood From A Stone special is that Eric has stepped out as a lead vocalist for the first time in his career, and during the concert he held down most of the vocal duties with Mary also contributing. There was a lot of positive energy floating around the venue, and it was evident that the band fed off it for the nearly two hour concert.

Hailing from South Carolina, The Marcus King Band opened the show with gritty Southern rock tunes. Towards the end of Krasno's set, he invited Marcus King up to the stage, and the two performed a smoking hot version of B.B. King's "Sweet Little Angel."

Another highlight of the night was when young guitar prodigy Brandon “Taz” Niederauer was brought to the stage. He and Krasno exchanged guitar licks that captivated the crowd — and each other.

As for the encore, the band chose to close out the night with an upbeat version of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' "Second That Emotion," which was a staple in the Jerry Garcia Band's repertoire.

Celebrating the venue's anniversary, shots were brought to the stage while balloons fell from the ceiling. It was a night to remember, with familiar faces in the crowd and one of Brooklyn's own performing for us.
