My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James has added solo tour dates for the fall and winter of 2016 in advance of his forthcoming solo LP, Eternally Even, which is co-produced by Blake Mills (who happens to be a badass guitarist and produced Alabama Shakes' Sound & Color).

James shared a taste of what's in store for fans while announcing Eternally Even and his new tour dates in a Facebook post:

I wanted to make an album that hopefully speaks to the issues of the day, many of which, sadly, are issues we have been dealing with since the beginning of time. Most of what I think about right now is how so many things in the world are SO fucked up — our political system is broken and corrupt...our earth is being destroyed by climate change... people are not treating each other with equality and respect... and I think — are we going to make it? Are we going to figure it out and fix it before it's too late? Can we ever truly open our hearts and embrace love in all its beautiful forms? I think it's still possible. I still have hope in humanity. I’m just trying to be a part of the discussion and encourage people to speak out for equality, to not be afraid to speak out for peace and love. All of us feel afraid at times in these absolutely insane times, but its important we speak our minds, cast our votes, and do not give in to fear and hatred.

Looking ahead. James' album will be released days before the general election in November. He's got a few warm-up solo shows in California before a run of MMJ concerts, then burning rubber playing solo shows into the winter. The opening band throughout the tour will be indie rockers Twin Limb, with the exception of one show at the San Francisco Fillmore, where he will be joined by Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst.

The tour is scheduled to wrap up on December 17 with a show at the 1,200 seat Civic Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana. If more dates are announced, we'll be updating this page as they are added.
