Childish Gambino rocked HOT 97 Summer Jam two weekends ago with "3005," one of his best cuts off of his 2013 album, Because the Internet. Today we received the official video of the performance.
Throughout his career Donald Glover has epitomized versatility, striving as an actor, as a comedian, and as an artist. "3005" highlights Gambino's versatility as an artist, featuring both smooth singing vocals and witty rap verses. Gambino puts on a show, performing passionately while dancing all over the stage in his standard short-shorts.
A little known fact about this song is that Hit-Boy sent Childish Gambino a beat for "3005" that Childish turned down because he didn't think it fit the song. That beat would become the background for Drake's "Trophies." "3005" ended up being produced by Glover himself, Stefan Ponce, and Ludwig Goransson.
Childish Gambino recently announced an upcoming EP with Chance the Rapper, tweeting Sunday:
now that chance finally released his verse on "worst guys", maybe he can hurry up and finish the rest of our EP.
