With her new project If All I Was Was Black set to premiere this Friday, Mavis Staples has unveiled a fourth single from the upcoming LP in anticipation of its release. Check out "Ain't No Doubt About It" above, courtesy of the Anti Records YouTube channel.
Featuring producer and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy's wispy vocals, the touching duet is a wholehearted engagement that traces the catharsis of friendship. Immersed in an elegantly simple instrumental arrangement, Staples sings, "Sometimes I get so worried, I don't know what to do. But all the things I worry about, very few of them come true, and when they do I call on you... Ain't no doubt about it, I'll always be your friend. Ain't no doubt about it, I can count on you 'til the end."
Pre-order a copy of If All I Was Was Black on Amazon. The new single follows the LP's title track, "Build a Bridge," and "Little Bit."
Staples is currently touring with Bob Dylan. For concert tickets and more, check out Mavis Staples' Zumic artist page.
