Andre 3000 is making the interview rounds, discussing his portrayal of Jimi Hendrix in the recently released film All Is By My Side. Below, watch him on The Late Show:

Andre 3000 Interview with David Letterman 10.2.2014

There are a few very interesting bits of information here. Andre 3000 talks about playing Hendrix, "the coolest person in the world," with reverence. As far as his personal experience hearing Hendrix, he talks about first becoming aware of Jimi's music when he heard "All Along The Watchtower" in the movie Apocalypse Now.

Letterman asks about the scene where Hendrix goes head-to-head with Clapton in a blues jam, saying that Hendrix actually regretted that he "had to go on stage and burn him" to rise in the London music scene, although there was "respect all day long" between the two after that. In a cross-cultural common thread, Andre 3000 talks about how kids in London used to spray-paint "Clapton is God" around the city in the '60s.

One of the things Andre talks about is this YouTube video of Jimi Hendrix playing The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" shortly after the album was released:
