Today, pop rock group Maroon 5 released another remix to their hit single, "Animals." This version features OutKast's Big Boi. The first official remix, which featured rapper J. Cole, was unleashed in September. The original version was released back in August and served as the second single to their latest album, V.
Big Boi delivers a good verse, bringing his country twang, speedy delivery, witty lines, and southern flavor to this pop song. Over the lively, energetic beat, he raps, "I run my fingers over that cleavage like I'm reading braille / She's the leading lady in every one of my freaky tales."
On the downside, Big Boi's verse is pretty short at only 12 bars, and his vocals sound weak in the mix. Another disappointment is having to hear Adam Levine's stalker-like lyrics for over two-minutes and forty seconds as he repeatedly sings, "Baby, I'm preying on you tonight / Hunt you down eat you alive," before the brief (30 second) verse from the OutKast star.
