Lady Gaga dropped by Good Morning America this morning to perform her new single, "Applause." Ever theatrical, it started with Lady Gaga dressed as Dorothy and singing "Over The Rainbow" to the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. After that intro, they skipped down the yellow brick road and launched into "Applause." Lady Gaga refashioned herself as the Good Witch, and after snatching the Wicked Witch's green wig, she changed into another Dorothy costume to triumphantly end the performance.
Gaga then sat down to talk about the performance and her upcoming album. As she described it, her life requires her to transform and adapt, similar to how Dorothy does in The Wizard Of Oz. Gaga survives by assimilating, and the performance served as a metaphor for her own life. She also discussed her album, saying that because she is in a better, happier place now, that is reflected in her new music. "Applause" comes from Lady Gaga's third studio album, ARTPOP. It's due out on November 11th, but you can pre-order it on iTunes or her official site now.
