The Grateful Dead's benefit show for the The Springfield Creamery in Veneta, Oregon on August, 1972 was recorded by four 16mm cameras for a movie. But the only problem was that the movie was never released. Bootlegs exist and are passed around amongst Deadheads, but copying film over and over gradually makes the quality worse and worse.

Now, 41 years after its filming, the film that came to be known as Sunshine Daydream will be released in theaters nationwide. Digitally remastered into HD, the film has never looked better. Check out the remastered version of "China Cat Sunflower" to see the difference, but watch out for some Deadhead nudity.

Sunshine Daydream will be in theaters on August 1. Check out Fathom Events' website to find out which theaters near you will be showing it.

The remastered version will be two hours and ten minutes long, but here's an hour and half bootleg version to last you until August.
