After working with some of rock's biggest acts (including Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, and U2) for over three decades, legendary set designer and architect Mark Fisher passed away last Tuesday.

According to Fisher's agency, Stufish, he "passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead with his wife Cristina at his side, after a long and difficult illness, which he suffered with stoicism and courage and his customary good humor."

Fisher was the man behind Pink Floyd's iconic "The Wall" stage design, as well as designing U2's 360 Tour "Claw" in 2009. Additionally, Fisher was also the senior designer for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic games, as well as one of the executive producers of the 2012 Olympics held in London.

Pink Floyd's Roger Waters stated the following remembering Fisher:

Mark was a great man and a great friend. I remember Mick Jagger coming to see The Wall. He came straight backstage afterwards and said: "Who did that? I want it." He was always questioning everything we ought to do, and usually bettering them.

U2's manager, Paul McGuinness, stated that Fisher "was really a genius" and "an architect with an extraordinary imagination." (via Billboard.)

Some production people are very set in their ways. The band comes to them with an idea: "How can you execute it?" Some say, "Oh, you can’t do that; that’s never been done before." But Mark was never like that. He turned everyone’s wild ideas into steel and lumber and canvas reality. He built extraordinary things for us.

Stufish concluded their online statement stating that "his work influenced not only the colleagues and crews with whom he worked but also surprised and delighted the many millions of people who experienced his designs all over the world."

Fisher's achievements will forever be ingrained in music history, and we at Zumic send our condolences to Fisher's friends and family during this time of grieving.
