Lester Chambers, a member of the legendary soul group The Chamber Brothers, was hospitalized after being attacked on Saturday while performing at the Hayward Russell City Blues Festival in Hayward, California. Thankfully, he's already been released from the hospital.
Chambers performed Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready" in a dedication to Trayvon Martin who was killed in February of last year. Perhaps, someone should have told Chambers to get ready himself. While performing, a female member of the crowd jumped on stage and pushed the 73-year-old singer to the ground.

According to the Mercury News, prior to his performance Chambers explained his interpretation of what Curtis Mayfield would do with the song in the wake of the Trayvon Martin case when his attacker struck.
Chambers told the audience if Mayfield were around today, he'd change the lyrics "there's a train a comin'" to "there's a change a comin,'" his wife Lola Chambers told this newspaper Sunday... "She must have been an acrobat. She did it in one leap. He didn't see her coming," Lola Chambers said.
