Sting is preparing to release his first album in 10 years, and recently sat down with Paste Magazine to discuss the inspiration behind The Last Ship. The new music takes influence from the area of Tyneside - where Sting grew up - with their "rich" use of violins and bagpipes. He reveals that his album is inspired by their folk and Celtic music, and that much of his new material "sounds like it was made in a pub." Watch the video on Paste Magazine to learn more about the new record.

The Last Ship is set for release on September 24th. You can pre-order it on iTunes and Sting's official site. The album is inspired by Sting's musical of the same name, expected to hit the stage in Fall 2014.
