With performances at the Oscars and Grammys already under his belt, Elton John is now set to perform at the Emmys as part of a tribute to another master pianist who favored extravagant costumes: the late Valentino Liberace.

This year's HBO telepic Behind the Candelabra, which starred Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as his lover, has been nominated for fifteen Emmys, and is probably the inspiration for the upcoming Emmy tribute.

Though viewers clearly thought that Douglas gave an accurate portrayal of the television legend, we speculate that EJ's tribute will be more electrifying and (surprisingly?) less homoerotic than Douglas'.
