After frontman Scott Weiland left the band last February, legendary hard-rockers Stone Temple Pilots are charging forward with a new lead singer: Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. The newly-incarnated band has released a teaser video for High Rise, an EP of new music set for release on October 8th. The band also released a music video for "Black Heart," a cut from the EP, on Monday.
In addition to some tasty snippets of live performances and in-studio jam sessions, the video gives perspective on the collaboration between Bennington and guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz. Although Bennington was nervous about joining an established band with a devoted following, his anxiety eased once he stepped into the studio. "It was a very organic process," he says. Ultimately, Bennington adds, the band decided to "let the music do the talking."
And the music speaks volumes. Robert DeLeo remarks that High Rise is "undeniably STP," which should be good news to longtime fans. Overall, everyone seems to be very happy with the results of the collaboration. Even more importantly, they all work well together. As Bennington says, "this is our band now."
STP has also released the tracklist for High Rise:
1. Out Of Time
2. Black Heart
3. Same On The Inside
4. Cry Cry
5. Tomorrow
