We already knew that Danny Brown has had a crazy life, but his recent interview with Hot 97's Peter Rosenburg and Cipha Sounds blows every scandalous detail we previously knew about the rapper out of the water. Brown begins the interview by talking about his new album Old, but eventually the hosts start digging for some juicy stories, at which point the interview becomes XXX-rated.
Early on, Brown praises Fool's Gold (his record label) for letting him "sit around for two years and work on" Old, crediting the album's immense success to the patience he was allowed to exercise. The album's structure has also attracted a lot of attention, due to the distinct stylistic differences between its A and B sides. Rosenburg inquires about this, and Brown responds by calling the album a "hip-hop timeline" -- that is, it begins with old-school "boom bap" tracks, and progresses towards a more forward-thinking sound by its end.
Old has also brought Brown new levels of fame and recognition, and the hosts question him about the changes that have occurred in his life since achieving that stardom. Brown says fame has its ups and downs, as he now averages "less than four hours of sleep," but gets to count personal heroes Dave Chapelle and Hannibal Buress as fans. Getting to play at the infamous Gathering of the Juggalos, Brown says, has also been a source of extreme pride.
With a discussion of the Gathering came the inevitable questions about drugs and women. After detailing a blowjob contest he witnessed at the Gathering, Brown is asked if the festival was any crazier than his experiences in his hometown of Detroit, which apparently it was not. At sixteen, the MC went to a strip club and saw not only another blowjob contest, but also "a bitch put a flashlight in her ass, and then start cutting it on and off."
The fun doesn't stop there, as Rosenburg and Cipha continue to pry into Brown's more recent sexual exploits, beginning with his recent incident of onstage fellatio. But in his private life, it seems Brown is even freakier. He's had sex with "4 or 5 women" at the same time, and says he oftentimes announces to rooms full of women: "Whoever ain't trying to get naked, get the fuck out." Sorting out the fans from the groupies can be difficult, Brown says, but he estimates that 25% of women at his concerts "don't even care about my music, they're just coming to try to get with me."
