Yasiin Bey's go-to DJ and producer, DJ Preservation, has announced today that he has remixed Bey's 2009 album The Ecstatic in full. Entitled The REcstatic, the official remix is slated to come out sometime in mid-May in conjunction with Downtown Records. The LP will feature Pres' reworkings of all 16 cuts plus an unreleased vocal take of the track "Casa Bey" that features production help from Minnesota. Along with the announcement of the album, Preservation premiers his version of "Quite Dog Bite Hard" today on Soundcloud provided below for your listening pleasure.
That's not all though. Besides REcstatic, Preservation is slated to drop his debut compilation album, Old Numbers, this year as well. The album features GZA, Jean Grae, Edo G, Jemini the Gifted One, Jim Jarmusch, Minnesota, 32 FX, Yahzeed, Milly Mango not to mention Yasiin Bey himself. There is no way this will suck.
