Depeche Mode has shared a music video for "Cover Me," a song from their latest release, Spirit. Watch it above, courtesy of the band's YouTube channel.

Directed by Anton Corbijn and filmed in Los Angeles, the black-and-white video features singer Dave Gahan dressed as an astronaut. He's seen walking around the streets before taking a rest on a bench overlooking the ocean. The calming song pairs nicely with the film's close-up shots of cosmic objects. Depeche Mode shared a detailed description about the video shoot on their Facebook page

Between takes while Dave was standing there, a guy (a bit older, no shirt, typical old-school Venice-type guy) walking his dog came up and stood alongside Dave, waiting to cross the street the other direction. He (and his dog) paid no attention to the rock star standing on the street corner in a full space suit, or the 20-person strong film crew surrounding him -– he just waited for the light to change and kept on walking. Apparently a spaceman was just a normal morning sight in Venice. Unfortunately, the cameras weren’t rolling and we only have this as a memory, but it’s all about being a part of moments like this where the line between normal and abnormal get completely blurred.

Spirit is currently available on Amazon.

The band is currently on a North America tour. For concert tickets and more, check out Depeche Mode's Zumic artist page.
