While Valentine's Day may be a day for love and spending time with your significant other, Trent Reznor used the opportunity yesterday to share a curated playlist of songs that are "intended for listening in solitude. Darkness optional but recommended." Listen above on Spotify, it is also available on Apple Music.
The 20-track collection features instrumental songs from the Nine Inch Nails catalog going back to 1994 as well as Trent's soundtrack work with Atticus Ross. Most are atmospheric and calming. There is an element of dark humor to the description, but it rings true. This is a good 87 minutes of music that can be enjoyed alone in the dark or with others. The absence of lyrics makes this a good collection to play while you read, work, clean, or many other activities that could use a nice relaxed vibe.
Last year, Nine Inch Nails released a five-track EP titled Add Violence.
