Grunge rockers Mudhoney have shared a song from their upcoming new album Digital Garbage. Listen to "Paranoid Core" above on YouTube.
The song sets a high energy tempo with rapid drumming, distorted riffs, pronounced bass, and Mark Arm's provocative vocals. Some lyrics may seem offensive, but there is a heavy dose of sarcasm that go along with them. The words are not what Mark Arm truly believes, but a character based on the Republican right-wing politicians and Fox News commentators.
From the first line, "Robots and aliens stealing jobs / They're bringing drugs, they'll rape your mom," to the last line, "I stoke the fire in your paranoid core / I feed on your fear," this is a song that speaks directly to the disturbing reality of how politics and media prey on peoples' worst thoughts and make them even worse.
Digital Garbage will be the group's first studio album since 2013’s Vanishing Point. It is scheduled for release on September 28, 2018 through Sub Pop. Pick it up on Amazon.
The band is scheduled to perform in North America and Europe later this year. For concert tickets and more, check out the Mudhoney Zumic artist page.
