Smooth vocals, memorable melodies, classic sensibilities, and daring experimentation are the things that have made Norah Jones one of the most well-known and beloved jazz musicians on the planet. Since her chart-topping debut LP, 2002's Come Away with Me, the songwriter has dazzled audiences with her unique blend of jazz with pop and soul.

Jones' newest single, "It Was You," emphasizes her soulful vocal and piano talents, opening with a remarkable howl as she tickles the ivories. Drummer Brian Blade's syncopated percussion is tasteful, driving the song forward while bassist Christopher Thomas holds down the groove with steady lines. Trumpeter Dave Guy and tenor saxophonist Leon Michels add an elegant atmosphere to the tune, and the lush sonic stew is filled out by Pete Remm's sweet and subtle organ.

"It Was You" possesses a far more laid-back vibe when compared to Jones' previous release, "My Heart is Full," which had a more electronic feel and intense bluesy tone (Thomas Bartlett, a.k.a. Doveman, collaborated with Jones on that track). This song is the second single the artist has released since her most recent studio LP, 2016's Day Breaks.

At this time, there is no word of an upcoming album release. For more music, news, and tour dates, check out Norah Jones' Zumic artist page.
