A Perfect Circle stir emotions with their dark music video for "So Long, And Thanks for All the Fish." Watch it above on YouTube.

The track features the band's ominous rock sound, but the upbeat rhythm with orchestral elements bring this closer to a pop radio song than anything the band has released in their nearly 20 years. Fans will recognize the distorted guitar sound, heavy drums, and Maynard's evocative vocals, but "So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish" has an uptempo beat that feels more experimental and operatic than other songs found on Eat The Elephant.

Directed by Kyle Cogan, the retro-style black-and-white video is an extreme example of the American Gothic style of storytelling that depicts seemingly normal and even beautiful situations which reveal themselves to be extremely violent and disturbing beneath the surface. In five minutes, we are bombarded with scenes of death, sexual perversity, and greed until a final moment of atomic annihilation. We can only hope that these works of art help us to learn and avoid such a fate in real life.

In a world where the United States has had over 300 mass shootings so far this year according to the Gun Violence Archive (including this week's shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA that killed 12 people) and powerful politicians are intentionally distorting reality and get caught in their lies (like Sarah Sanders tweeting a phony video yesterday to justify banning a reporter from the White House), it is all too easy to relate scenes in the video with today's current climate.

Eat The Elephant is currently available on Amazon and major streaming services. You can also stream the album for free and read our review here on Zumic.

The band is currently on a North American tour. For concert tickets and more, check out A Perfect Circle's Zumic artist page.
