Waxahatchee, an individual project of Kate Crutchfield, is the new artist-to-watch in grunge-pop. The creative, grid-ditching indie artist released her first album, American Weekend, after the breakup of her previous group P.S. Eliot last year. The best part? She recorded the whole notable album in her bedroom. "Be Good," possibly the most notable track off of American Weekend, was named one of the 50 best songs of 2012 by NPR.
Waxahatchee's newest album Cerulian Salt, released on March 5th, confirms that Waxahatchee isn't going anywhere any time soon. This track, off of Cerulian Salt, is just one of the artists short and sweet songs that sounds like it could easily fit on the soundtrack of a Jason Reitman movie (mostly Juno). While the track isn't exactly new, it was released in March, it deserves the extra attention.
Waxahatchee is on tour this summer with Tegan and Sara, but she's playing a number shows on her own, too. Check her out when you can.
