Is there a more iconic music festival than Coachella?

Taking place every April in the Coachella Valley of Southern California, the two-weekend event has established itself as not just a place to see great music — but a place where trends are set in the worlds of fashion and culture. It also marks the beginning of the festival season every year, as the weather gets warmer and outdoor concerts get back underway.

Tickets for Coachella typically sell out before the lineup is even announced, and this year is no different. However, they are still ways to get into the party. Through the festival's official website, travel packages are still available. These packages include passes to see the music, in addition to high priced lodging through the weekend. The only catch is the cost, which ranges from $1,250 per person to upwards of $2,500 for VIP amenities and spa access.

The only other way to buy Coachella tickets is through the secondary market. StubHub currently has tickets available below face value, although they may not last long. General Admission tickets originally sold for $429, but you can find Weekend 2 tickets for $379 and for Weekend 1 at $480. Also, VIP tickets originally sold for $999 but they are available on StubHub on Weekend 2 for $795 and Weekend 1 for $950.

Aside from music, Coachella has been known to offer a wide array of interactive art installations and one-of-a-kind sculpture designs, some of which are created exclusively for the year's event. The festival may be streaming online, but there is no substitute for being there.

This year, Coachella kicks off its first weekend on Friday, April 12. The headlining performers — Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande — are among the greatest talents of this generation. Other big name acts span nearly every popular genre, from pop to rock to R&B to country to electronic to hip hop. Among the many huge artists are The 1975, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Weezer, Khalid, Zedd, and YG.

The 2019 lineup actually makes history, as BLACKPINK will be the first K-pop group to ever perform at the festival. Joining them are several other Asian acts including Hyukoh and Perfume. Of course, Latin music has seen a major surge in popularity, and this year's Coachella features many Spanish-speaking artists such as Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Los Tucanes De Tijuana.
