"Somebody Else" - Jaden Smith [YouTube Audio Single]

Last week, Jaden Smith released his second full-length studio album, ERYS, which includes the song "Somebody Else" as a bonus track on the deluxe version. Listen above.

Ever want something that you can't have? "Somebody Else" takes listeners to a time post-heartbreak where emotions are high and the wound is still fresh. Growing apart in a relationship is always tough to deal with, and that separation is felt when Jaden sings, "I'm all lost / I need you to myself. Too far off the edge / I'm too far off the edge." He plays at the listener's emotions, capturing the feeling of incompletion after a break-up and the longing to be whole again.

This song has a somber and spacey aesthetic. Jaden croons over the soft and delicate guitars, creating a dark backdrop. The sparse production does a great job to highlight the vocals, allowing the raw emotion to come through. Jaden's delivery does well to give a sense of humanity even with the auto-tune.

ERYS was released last Friday and includes features from other well-known artists such as A$AP Rocky, Tyler The Creator, Kid Cudi, and Jaden's sister Willow. Both the standard and deluxe versions of ERYS are available on all major streaming platforms, they can also be bought on Amazon.
