Prophets of Rage bring attention to the numerous gun related incidents infecting America in the new song called "Pop Goes The Weapon." Listen and watch the music video above, courtesy of the band's YouTube channel. They also left a comment about the track on their Facebook page:

"Pop Goes The Weapon" reflects the ongoing gun violence happening in America. Guns are both the subject of religious worship AND huge profits in the United States. Combined with emboldened white nationalism the recent epidemic of massacres is little surprise. "Pop Goes The Weapon" channels our “thoughts & prayers” through Marshall stacks & microphones.

Hypnotic riffs and layered production create an uneasy vibe that compliments the song's strong message. B-Real and Chuck D swap verses calling out gun violence with lines like, "I know you’re rotten to the core / So my .44 mags about to put one in your melon" and "One gun two gun three guns four / So many guns, keep on runnin' out the store." The song itself is just over two-and-a-half minutes long, with the final twenty seconds of the video reserved as a moment of silence while the names of victims scroll across the screen in black-and-white.

The music video shows the harrowing number of reported gun-related incidents in 2019 (so far) organized by date, location, number killed, and number injured. News clips related to shootings are mixed in with a wide range of gun-related video footage — from the assembly and firing of the weapons to the protests and memorials for those who died. Several scenes, especially of real-life violence and young children firing assault weapons, add to the urgency of the message.

At this time, it is not known if the song will be included on an album. Earlier this year they released the single "Made With Hate."

Prophets of Rage will perform two shows later this month in Los Angeles. For concert tickets and more, check out their Zumic artist page.
