During their set at the Hultsfred Festival in Sweden last night, the Arctic Monkeys surprised fans by performing a new song called "Mad Sounds". A slower number backed by swelling organ chords and lush guitars, the song represents a departure from the brash, fast-paced tracks that characterize the Monkeys' earlier albums.
It seems the band is getting into a habit of performing unrecorded material. Less than a month ago, they debuted a new song, "Do I Wanna Know?," during a show in California. The most recent official song releases from the Arctic Monkeys were pair of singles in 2012, "R U Mine?" and "Black Treacle".
